About Zionskirche

Consecrated in 1873 on what was then one of Berlin's highest points, the Zionskirche grew up amid a poor industrial quarter and ran soup kitchens, Sunday schools and childcare. Dietrich Bonhoeffer taught a confirmation class here in 1931–32, and in the 1980s its parsonage housed the Umwelt-Bibliothek, a hub of GDR opposition raided by the Stasi in 1987.

Today it is one of three preaching churches of the Protestant parish am Weinberg, with Sunday services, children's church, choirs and an organ restoration project, and the church is open most afternoons for visitors and tower climbs.
