About St. Lukas-Kirche

Built in 1859–61 to designs from Stüler's circle, destroyed in 1945 and reconsecrated in 1954, St. Lukas has been used by the Berliner Stadtmission since 2009 for intercultural church work.

Today it houses the WillkommensGemeinde, a congregation of people from many cultures whose shared language is simple German. Alongside the Sunday service it runs a Bible café where passages are read first in each person's own language, a Friday language café and pastoral care.

  • BibelCafé – Sundays 13:30: Bible passage read in each person's mother tongue, then in simple German, followed by discussion.
  • SprachCafé – Friday evening café for practising German in small conversation groups; open to everyone.
  • Welcome for newcomers – Congregation focused on giving recent arrivals a spiritual home and practical support.
  • Pastoral care – Seelsorge available on request.
  • Clothing donations – Clothing donation container in the church courtyard.
