About Emmaus-Kirche

The Emmaus congregation worships in a listed brick hall church near Onkel Toms Hütte, consecrated in 1935 and known for its wooden interior and painted ceiling. Long named after Ernst Moritz Arndt, it took the name Emmaus in 2022 after the congregation distanced itself from his nationalist and antisemitic writings.

Sunday worship runs with a parallel children's service in term time, plus Taizé evenings, family services and services in plain language. The parish runs a daycare, youth work with Café Emma, several choirs, a clothing store and an open church on Thursdays.
